The Caucasiological Center was founded by Itzhac David in 1972, under the auspices of the late President of Israel, Zalman Shazar and the close collaboration of leading intellectuals and writers, in Israel and abroad, such as Avraham Shlonsky, Andria Apakidze, Zia Buniatov, Anda Finkerfeld, Dov Khomsky, Moshe Danieli, Ephraim Broyde, Josef Mirelman, Hannah Rovina, Adam Nakhushev, David Lang, Khizgil Avshalumov, Victor Nozadze, George Tsereteli, Ilyia Tabagua, Yosef Amusin, Avraham Elinson, Fanny Baazov, Mikhael Jana, Raya Tcharoutcheff, Hayim Rabin, and others. The Center was to be a scientific research institution to develop research on large-scale issues of Hebraistica Caucasiana, Russian and Caucasian Jewish Diaspora, Caucaso-Palestinian archaeology, Ibero-Mediterranean and Indo-Chinese Dolmeno-Megalithic cultures. The Center has carried out investigations in the field of Jewish Diaspora in Russia, the Caucasus, and the surrounding countries’ literature, languages and traditions. It has also promoted research in the field of different ethno-linguistic groups in historical Palestine (Eretz Israel), including Caucasian Jews, Christians, and Muslims of different ethnic and sub-ethnic groups. These special investigations included various archaeological sites. They traced the emergence of Armenian-born Muslim rulers in Egypt, Syria and Palestine, and studied the appearance of Circassian Mamluk rule in the Near East, and the repercussions thereof in the Land of Israel.
Within the framework of the Caucasiological Center was incorporated: the Literary Society of Boris Gaponov, which was founded to eternalize the memory of one of the most outstanding writers and remarkable thinker, and to study his heritage. Gaponov’s “Kutaisian Mysteries” were partially expounded in I. David’s multi-volume “Revelationary Civilization in Extension”. The goal of these works was also to analyze multi-national relationships, issues of poetics and linguistics, and to deal with experimental versification systems.
I. David’s Revelationary Civilization in Extension (RCIE) had a threefold purpose: 1) infra-structural Hebraistica-Caucasiana in its theoretical frameworks and central definitions, and comparative structural typological archeo-ethno-linguistic and folkloric-mythological fieldworks; 2) Phenomenology of Revelation was conceived as essence of Revelationarity in its phenomenological dynamic patterns, clustered around the main Israeli Revelationary Paradigm; 3) Revelationarism as a coherently emerging spiritual ideological superstructure.
According to I. David, Revelation meant Divine Providential Interference (DPI) communicating to Humankind how to carry out a continuous socio-political revolution. Revelation is an ever- ongoing process. Revolution is an ever-unfolding eventuality as well. They were organically – not mechanically – interconnected. Revelationarism, transcended not only non-Jewish ideologies, politics and creeds, but absorbs and transcends as well, all the existing Jewish-Judaistic trends and beliefs, including their ideological outgrowth, - political liberal Zionism, which pretended to solve the Jewish problem, but unfortunately failed. Revelationarism, in its most succinct definition means Providential Revelation amidst the human moral and socio-ideological transformations through the genuinely restored Israel, with its pertinent universally vibrating geopolitical overtones and ideological socio- ethnocratic repercussions.
The Caucasus and Land of Israel Civilizatory Axis, became a paleo-geo-tectonical fracture located in the very center of the world and undulating its cultural-archaeological and spiritual impacts towards the European North West and African South West, and further across the Atlantic towards the New World. On the other hand, the same undulation fluctuated towards the Russian-Siberian North East and Indo-Chinese South East, and still further towards Oceania. Moreover, another fundamental aspect: during millennia, the Caucasus became the central migratory crossing basin for numerous ethno-linguistic groups, peoples, nations, absorbing regional beliefs, confessional, cultural features, socio-anthropological imprints and folkloric, mythological glimpses. In this manner the Caucasus served as a depository of world civilizations, forming a condensed ethno-anthropo-glottological laboratory and archaeological matrix for mankind.
It is crucial for the understanding of the substance of all these works to note that this very Axis was erotically charged, involving the Hebrew prophetic notion of “Be’ila” – a marital intercourse between IHVH Providence and His all-flooding abundance, and the Land of Israel, which actually represents the feminine organ in its geo-configuration. Indeed, this was the Axis whence the uniquely original phenomenon of Revelationarity erupted, with its exceptional and overwhelming power, encompassing all and conducting human destinies towards the yet unknown.
I. David ushered general Caucasiology towards new horizons, outlining frameworks for a new panoramic vision of the sequences of cultures and civilizations, built on the revelationary paradigm of the Hebrew-Caucasus Axis Extension (HCAE). It was evident that without the breadth of such a vision, only through the positivist-empirical approach, - by which were largely contaminated research fields in the former USSR and in the West, - the all-converging scientific certainty would not be achieved. Tracing the main difference between the truly revelatory and empirically-scientific, we can point to the beyond-language-manifestation in the first case, free from ethno-confessional, tribalistic ideological pressures. In the second case the language-description-bound-conformity, pressuring ideologically, reiterates itself in exhausting intellectual drudgeries.
I. David is a full member of several internationally acclaimed scientific Academies, and frequently appears as a visiting professor in various countries. In 2000 the Caucasiological Center became the International Caucasiological Center, affiliated with the Revelationary Inter-Ethnic Social Federative Movement, in order to meet new challenges and outline new prospects for academic research.
Presently our Institution is engaged in intensive and full-scale research in Hebraistica Caucasiana, which main purpose is the gathering of the scattered revelationary mystical sparkles throughout the world, and the reconstitution of the genuine Hebrew-Israeli civilization paradigm. In order to promote these goals the institution and its staff carries out:
a) point to point local regional geographical investigations to cover ethno-linguistic, cultural and socio-anthropological field-work;
b) retrieves, analyzes and studies an enormous amount of archeological, historical, narrative-literary and archival records concerning the formation and essence of mankind’s ethno-racial and national-confessional units;
c) edits, computerizes, and prepares for publication a multi-volume project of which 5 volumes have already been published’
d) establishes a logical and natural linkage between Hebraistica Caucasiana and the Phenomenology of Revelation on the one hand, and Revelationarism on the other, thus producing a most coherent system of phenomenological research.
e) attempts to reach out to the grassroots of various cultural entities, inter-faith institutions, academic societies, organizations, and intellectual circles in the world, involving frequent appearances and lecturing worldwide.
In order to continue the above-mentioned work and achieve the pertinent goals all moral and material contributions will be welcome.
